This project was an $8 million upgrade to HVAC systems for several buildings of the Sarnia Justice Complex. This project involved replacement of air-handling units and existing remote chillers, and consolidation of chilled water generating systems to one location. New air-handling units were installed within the existing mechanical rooms. The new system consists of new air-handling units built on site and two 13-ton magnetic bearing chillers and cooling tower. Air-handling unit installation was accomplished by building new air-handling units within the existing mechanical rooms and installing them during unoccupied periods and on weekends. Scheduling was critical in this project to ensure units were installed within the weekend and unoccupied time frames to ensure uninterrupted operation for occupants. The project was completed in 2013.
