Intermediate Mechanical Engineer - Ottawa

We have an immediate opening for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer in our Ottawa office. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will have responsibility for assisting project teams with all aspects of the design of mechanical systems for health care, institutional, industrial and commercial buildings, including: HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, medical gases, sustainability, etc. You will have responsibility for performing design calculations, selecting equipment, and to guide the CAD staff and assist in the development of CAD design drawings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage, prioritize, and complete design projects for various clients
  • Coordinate multi-discipline designs
  • Receive and review process and product requirements, work with suppliers to obtain information and quotes, and generate specifications
  • Preparation of drawings and sketches as required; Assist with the preparation of drawings and schematics
  • Coordinate with other consulting disciplines to ensure drawing integrity and completeness
  • Review architectural and structural drawings
  • Work with contractors and respond to technical inquiries

Skills / Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer Designation in Ontario
  • Knowledge of Canadian Engineering standards
  • 5 to 10 years relevant work experience related to building systems
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models (ex. AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
  • Familiar with bid and tendering process
  • Experience in site investigations and construction review
  • Analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear manner
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • French language would be an asset

Mechanical Designer - London

We have openings for a Mechanical Designer and Draftsperson. Successful candidates will be involved in all aspects of the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for health care, institutional, and commercial buildings.
