This project was a $14.5 million HVAC and plumbing upgrade in a maximum security detention facility. The 13,000 m2 building has 10 air handling units which serve as the sole source of heating and cooling for all inmate areas. Replacement of these units, as well as the control system, required detailed planning, including the provision of temporary systems to maintain continuity of air service. The project was completed in 2023.
The same mandate from Infrastructure Ontario also included a renovation scope to develop 10 new officer stations out of five former inmate units and renovate existing washrooms. These additional scopes of work were tendered in 2021 and 2024 with a construction value of $7.35 million. Construction is ongoing.
