
The new Central Library for the City of London was constructed in space previously occupied by a three level department store. The new library houses 16,725 m2 of paper, electronic and video collections, meeting and study rooms, and a 400 seat performance hall. The project included wired and wireless telecommunication systems, plus CCTV and access control security systems. The library opened in 2002.
